Serafina Lucía: Our Angel of Light

When it came time to choose the name of our daughter, there were a few qualities we were looking for. We wanted a name that sounded beautiful in both English and Spanish, carried a spiritual meaning, felt elegant and timeless, and was also unique.

I was reading through a list of Italian girl names when I came across Serafina for the first time. I loved the melodic nature of its sound, and when I looked up the meaning, it struck a chord with me.

The name Serafina is derived from the ancient Hebrew word seraphim, referring to the highest order of angels who surround God's throne. In the Book of Isaiah, they are described as six-winged, fiery beings, burning with divine love for the Lord.

Together, Ricardo and I chose the middle name Lucía, which comes from the Latin root meaning “light.” We felt that Serafina Lucía flowed beautifully, tying together the themes of love and light.

You could call it coincidence, but to me it felt like divine intervention that this little soul made her grand debut on 2/6/26—a date that many would recognize as an angel number sequence. What felt especially meaningful was that she was born on the 6th day of the month, mirroring the six-winged angels her name represents.

Another sweet synchronicity is that February 6th also happens to be the birthday of Bob Marley, my favorite artist. His music continues to transcend time, spreading messages of love, unity, and hope across the world.

Our little angel perfectly embodies her name, as she has already brought infinite love and light into our world. We thank God every day for sending us our daughter- a blessing beyond our wildest dreams.
